Pololu High-Power Stepper Motor Driver 36v4

Overview

The Pololu High-Power Stepper Motor Driver 36v4 (SKU: PO3730, MPN: 3730) is a stepper motor driver carrier board based on the Texas Instruments DRV8711 and external MOSFET H-bridges. It is designed for large bipolar stepper motors and supports an operating voltage range of 8 V to 50 V.

The board offers SPI configuration and optional STEP/DIR control, allowing integration into both advanced and conventional motion-control systems. It supports up to 4 A continuous current per phase without additional cooling, and currents up to around 6 A per phase are referenced with sufficient extra cooling.

Nine step resolutions are supported, from full-step to 1/256 microstepping. Additional features include adjustable current control, adaptive blanking time, adjustable decay times, multiple current decay modes, and optional STALL and BEMF outputs. Logic inputs are compatible with 1.8 V, 3.3 V, and 5 V systems. Protection functions include under-voltage lockout, over-current protection, short-circuit protection, and reverse-voltage protection up to 40 V.
